Santiago de Compostela Catholic Church in Lake Forest, California, is blessed to bear the name and spirit of one of the oldest and most revered pilgrimage shrines in Christian tradition.
For a wonderful primer on the rich heritage of Santiago, Spain, and the true meaning of pilgrimage see the Word on Fire blogpost here. The Camino, or The Way as the pilgrimage is referred to and after which this podcast is named, is much more than a walk. It is a journey in Faith, Hope, and Love.
In honor of the Feast of St. James (Santiago) the parish held it's first local Camino. The parish journey featured a 4.2 mile walk with guided spiritual reflection, a Mass (including the Gospel of Matthew 20:20-28 and this homily by Fr. Thomas) and a celebratory lunch.
Buen Camino!
